Claudio Constantini (pianist, bandoneonist, composer, arranger) is a Peruvian musician. He has performed over 4 continents and plays an active role in all fields of specialization. Prize winner at several international competitions (1st prize Litmann competition-New York, 1st prize Astor Piazzolla competition-Italy, 1st prize Doble Ocho competition-Netherlands, 1st prize Cafe Tango award-Germany, 3rd prize Klingenthal competition-Germany, etc.), Constantini has been invited to perform as pianist and bandoneonist in such festivals as Het Grachtenfestival (The Netherlands), Helsinki Festival (Finland), the Turku Jazz festival (Finland), Riihimäki summer festival (Finland), Murcia International orchestra festival (Spain), Maailmantango festival (Tampere), Wuppertal tango festival (Germany), J.S.Bach International Festival (Peru), National choir festival (Peru), National violoncello festival (Peru), among others. Furthermore, he has performed as soloist and/or with orchestras in countries such as the United States of America, Japan, Russia, Peru, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Latvia, Lithuania, The Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Spain, etc, in some of the most important cities and venues such as De Doelen (Rotterdam), Muziekgebouw (Amsterdam), Glinka Hall (St.Petersburg), Shostakovich hall (St.Petersburg), Sala Mozart Zaragoza (Spain), Sibelius Hall (Finland), Tampere hall (Finland), Sellosali (Finland), Linnateatteri (Finland), among many others. His performances have been broadcast in radio and television in several countries (Russia, Finland, Netherlands, Perú, etc.), with highlights such as the live broadcast of Beethoven´s 4th piano concerto and Piazzolla´s 5 tango sensations in Lithuania´s Penki National TV, together with the Kristoforo Kamerinis chamber orchestra and Aleksandras Simelis conducting; or the live broadcast and retransmissions on Portuguese national radio channel of the world premiere of Daniel Schvetz´s concerto for bandoneón and orchestra, together with the Metropolitan orchestra of Lisbon and Alvaro Medina, conductor. Born in Lima, Perú (1983) into a family of musicians, he began his music studies with the piano at age 13. Already half a year later he won his first award, the 3rd prize in the National Bela Bartok piano competition. Constantini later continued his piano studies in Finland in the Lahti University with teachers Lauri Väinmaa and later Raija Kerppo, graduating with honours 2005. In 2008 he was awarded with the prestigious HSP Scholarship from the Dutch government and therefore enrolled to the Rotterdam Conservatorium to study a Master Degree with Maestro Aquiles Delle Vigne, from which he graduated in 2010 Cum Laude (with highest honours). Furthermore, in 2009 he obtained the prestigious Diplome de Concert at the Schola Cantorum in Paris, France. As a bandoneonist, Constantini studied autodidactically at first and later with professor Victor Villena at the Rotterdam Conservatorium, where he also studied composition and analysis with Gustavo Beytelmann. Constantini is founder of such ensembles as Septetoscopio, Duo Versos, and Milonga del Norte, all of for which he served as artistic leader and composer/arranger. He currently concertizes with his trio Constantini-Villena-Myohanen which is entirely devoted to performing Constantini´s own compositions. As a composer and musical arranger, Claudio Constantini has also worked for such organizations as the Paris Conservatoire (France), the Juvenalia chamber orchestra (Finland), the Canadian Academy in Kobe (Japan), the Orquesta Típica Tangarte (Sweden), the Music Theater department of the Lahti Polytechnic (Finland), The Primavera Ensemble (Russia), among others. |
